"What happens when you take a light into a dark room?" my teacher asked me many years ago. "Why, then you can see!" she said with a laugh.
My eyes must have lit up as the light bulb went off in my own consciousness because as simple a thought as that was, it held so many layers to take away that I continue to reflect upon.
At face value, turning on the light in a dark room would in fact allow one to see what's in the room.
But what happens if that light is channeling love or compassion in the many facets of our personal and professional lives?
Or speaking up when it's pono to do so?
The light can even be as simple as a genuine smile, expression of gratitude, or showing genuine interest in the "how's your day?" of a colleague, a friend, or a stranger.
All of the above is definitely easier said than done, but from my experience extremely worthwhile for when we don't let the shade dim our shine, the light shall be reflected back and magnified.
