I don’t know how many people know this but as a kid, I did not like peanut butter.
PBJ?
Tolerable.
Cookies?
Hard pass.
On a spoon, by itself?
YEET!
But funny how as time passes, things change.
Peanut butter has become a regular addition to my post-workout smoothies and it’s great for an on the go quick bite with a banana for my first meal, which I’m not a huge big breakfast eater so much these days. Though don’t get me wrong, I love eggs, cheese, toast, rice, all the things!
I share all this because as I read the nutrition label this morning, it dawned on me that peanut butter might be the perfect food.
Healthy fat?
Check.
Balance of protein and carbs (like literally it’s equally parts)?
Let’s go.
On a spoon?
Even #TheKittyHendrixExperience wanted in on the action, which was a first in the eight years he’s been alive. On a side-note, he also loves poi (Hawai‘i boy) and acai bowls (Oss!).
With that, mahalo to the Incas, Aztecs, George Washington Carver, Marcellus Gilmore Edson, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, and the countless/nameless who were doing food kine tings with peanuts as well. Without all of you, this amazing stuff might not be where it is.
