Not ‘That cat’ or TCFKaMH but #HerNameIsBatman / Shot on Lomography 35mm during my shooting with all the film is distorted era after Dad died.
There’s this grizzled-looking, small-kine meanish cat outside who hisses at us when I’m out walking Emma at night and we go to visit ‘our’ stray cat Leo. I normally don’t pay it any mind unless it’s chasing Leo away from food.
It kind of reminds me of Hendrix, so I’ve taken to referring to this cat as ‘Mean Hendrix’ and I know, that is not very nice, and I should stop that. So I will.
Recently, I may have connected the dots that this cat is ‘That cat’ who stays with a houseless lady in the neighborhood. ‘That cat’ LOVES her/his lady, who can be seen sleeping on the sidewalk or sitting with the cat nearby under a tree.
Most times, ‘That cat’ just stays nearby as long as the woman is out there, but one day, ‘That cat’ was perched atop her as she was hunched over, and I find it oddly strange and beautiful because you could feel the love ‘That cat’ had for this woman.
Bev disagrees that ‘That cat’ is The Cat Formerly Known as Mean Hendrix (TCFKaMH). And technically, You’re not supposed to disagree with your wife, or so I’ve been told. Henceforth, ‘That cat’ might not be TCFKaMH, but the lesson that I was reminded of, which subsequently became the title of this musing is a gentle reminder to love because most, if not all, living creatures, need Love.
Soul Love All.
Be Soul Loving.
It’s easier to Love and let go. Remember, as the Buddha once shared, it burns more to hold on to the hot coal of anger.
I’d add that the coals of meanness and shiddiness and all the other not-so-nice-nesses can burn just as much, if not more.
Soul Just Love.
With that, my apologies TCFKaMH. Whether you’re ‘That cat’ or not, I won’t ignore you if you hiss at my dog or chase you away if you come at my stray cat. Next time, I shall feed you.
And to that lady out there with ‘That cat’ on the sidewalk, may Creation bless you.
A hui hou.
