Hello World. We’re back, surprisingly for our second edition of this series. Buckle up Butter Cup, stream of consciousness (just kidding) - ENGAGED!
I love the smell of books. I just opened a newer book and was hit by the uniquely bookish aroma and it made me laugh within. I wonder how many books I’ve ever opened?
Speaking of books… I also am a huge fan of bookstores. As a kid both of my grandmothers would take me to the library and books were always a sanctuary.
On the topic of books, I haven’t written a new manuscript in awhile. I have one sitting, ready to go, that addresses the cycle of depression through poetry and some day that may see the light of day but methinks what I yearn to create is a journey in a book. Something to think about.
Recently, I was a guest on a podcast. One of our academy’s Professors recently began his storytelling journey via podcast and I had the honor of being invited to be a part of Episode 2, where we talked about the need for a water sponsor, AI, the correct order to watch Star Wars, and more. Check it out on BuzzSpout or Apple Podcasts.
IDGAF - It seems like we’ve entered a refresh of the “I don’t give a f***” life cycle. At a glance…. While life has elements of change woven throughout, the reality is that this journey is in a constant state of flux and the patterns that we experience through various seasons replicate in many ways. Live enough life, and we can see this on the micro, be blessed to live long and the evidence of how it’s reflected in the macro is evident. IDK if we are in an IDGAF phase so much as there’s a true transition taking place as many in the workforce who have been the managers and top leaders for decades now move into the next chapter of their life. It’s everywhere, in every industry. And that scares alot of folks.
But IDGAF, I ain’t sked - Now, I have fear, I have concerns. Definitely done been stressed. But all I really know Life to be is change and it’s better to embrace uncertainty, because that’s what can liberate us to release our judgments and live more fully. Want to try something new? Do it. Now it’s not working out? Eh, you tried, learned, no need to force something. We set these binding deadlines when the only commodity we can’t afford to waste is time. It’s the “I’m going to do this when this, that, then and/or when otherwise aligns with TBD.” that is the chain that binds in Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. I’m as guilty of staring at the shadows as anyone else but as we progress on the journey, hopefully there is advancement from the twists and turns that allow us to navigate a bit more gracefully and put down the chains because the higher you go up the mountain, the path gets more narrow, the trek is much harder, and the steeper the climb gets.
IMO, in Jiu-Jitsu, there is no lose, you either win or you learn. And often, the learning is tap or snap. Or go sleepy night night - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Seventh Inning Stretch - If you’ve read this far, wow. Yeah, you buddy! Soul what? Should we run it to eleven? Do you have it in you Dear Reader to continue for a few more thoughts? Okay….
Be Your Own Guru - my teacher told me that very early in our knowing one another (in this life she might point out). So often in life do we give away our power. We can get lost trying to win approval, excel, fit in. For what? The problem with always being a follower is that what the leader does, how s/he lives, can only truly work for them. IMHO, the best leaders are those that elevate others and train and teach people to be able to be in tune and know how best to trust within. While you can and should be your own guru, be encouraged when times get overwhelming and realize that strength is asking for help when needed.
Because…. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
Be Soul + Full.
