At work, in a recent meeting of the Communications Department, one of my colleagues shared a story from her tenure at a local magazine publication in Honolulu where they did a column of 42 Thoughts. I thought that was really cool and felt like eleven thoughts was realistic to add into the mix here.
Soul Enjoy these Eleven Thoughts or as the sub-heading reads, at least seven thoughts!
Or somewhere in between.
With that, here are 7-11 thoughts:
Speaking of 7-11, 7-11 Japan - is next level. If you’ve not yet discovered the magic of Japanese convenience stores, either IRL or via the magic of social media, do yourself a favor and go down an IG, TikTok, YouTube, insert your platform of choice here rabbit hole and discover. Bonus points if you just take my word for it, buy the plane ticket and go to Japan, NOW.

Emma got an Owee foot - in one of the sadder, more recent traumatic experiences, our dog Emma jumped out the back of the automobile, a move she’s done countless times over the years, and slid as she landed, injuring her dew claw (like their thumb, something I just learned). While she’s doing better each day with meds and lots of love from Momma, it’s super sad. I felt horrible bc it happened with me and she just popped right back up like nothing had really happened. We proceeded to enjoy a sunset stroll and it wasn’t until I picked her up and put her back in the car that I realized what exactly had happened as she smiled with blood on her lower lip. Poor kid, looking happy as can be like she won a 5 Rd. banger of a fight.
Relating to things I just learned, To Double Space of Not to Double Space? - Did you know that it’s officially a single space after a sentence? We have talked about it at home in passing but today for whatever reason I googled that shit and Microsoft made the switch in their word-processing correction and that became official in 2020. But when you do a deeper dive, it turns out that while both are correct, it all comes down to the reviewer (instructor, supervisor, etc.). In what Mandela Effect version of the simulation do I find myself? To quote Uncle Roger, nieces and nephews:
Haiyahhhh!
I don’t even know why I write. The mass consumption of video or audio these days seems to have replaced reading. Even my reading has shifted. Where once I read books, I now read news online, research topics for work or of general interest, and I also go and peruse videos and audio. See “Haiyahhh!” above.
You Get What You Pay For - I’m all for the deal. No get me wrong there. Saving when and where you can is epic. But at least in regard to services, you get what you pay for. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Which kind of makes me sad bc I tend to fall for that…
Cat Owner Pro Tip - Don’t give your cats treats. Just don’t. And if you have to, don’t put the treats in your desk drawer, unless you want more cat butthole appearances on your work from home meetings. In that case, by all means.
“In 2000 years, only two people ever said they’ll come back.” - One night back when I was “telling fortunes” (true story but I wouldn’t call it fortune telling so much as spiritual consulting), I was walking along the Waikiki Strip and had no cash on me when I saw a really awesome crucifix pendant that I wanted to purchase. I asked the vendor if he took a card but it was cash only so I told him I’d be back after my shift. When I returned about 7 hours later, much to his surprise, dude smiles and said the quote above. He quickly addressed my amused bewilderment with, “You and Jesus.” Life, man, just wild.
Reflections at the End - I was reading a post on LinkedIn
that the algorithm servedabout some musings Steve Jobs allegedly shared as his time on the physical plane of existence came to a close and her reflected how he had acquired all this wealth, and could do all of these things (like pay a person to drive), but it didn’t matter because none of that could help what he next faced. The overarching sentiment that came through the examples (e.g. a $30 watch could tell time the same as a $300 one…) was to learn to just be in life, and then, appreciate it.
Time moves so quickly. The things that we think matter, which usually have more to do with status and external validation, really don’t matter because in the end, that’s just it, it’s over, done, roll credits, pau.
And so is this.
Until next (Seven to) Eleven Thoughts, have a great one and be well.
